Caring for a Wool Rug: Cleaning, Rotating and Storing

Cozy room with a cream wool rug, an upright vacuum and a curved arrow suggesting rotating the rug

Wool fibers repel dirt and bounce back from foot traffic, but they still need attention.

Routine care

  • Vacuum weekly without the beater bar.
  • Rotate the rug every six months to even out wear and sun fading.
  • Blot spills immediately; never rub.

Storage

Roll the rug (never fold it) with the pile facing inward, wrap in breathable cotton, and store off the floor.
